Book II Update | 116,362 Words And Counting

Here is an update on the progress of book II. Many of you have been requesting updates on the next book of The Odysseys of Alaythia

The current Word Count for Book II of The Odysseys of Alaythia is 116,362, and counting.

One way I've been doing this is by posting on X/Twitter at the end of each time I finish writing that day, followed by posting that Tweet onto my Instagram stories.

However, while that keeps those who follow me on X informed and briefly updates those for the 24 hours that Instagram keeps a story afloat, I've decided to pursue two options that are a little more concrete.

Website Updated:

I’ve updated The Odysseys of Alaythia website to hold the current word count.

This word count will be updated every Sunday evening, and only when a new chapter(s) has been completed, excluding any current words that do not yet complete a chapter.

Weekly Blog

The second way will be by creating short blog posts like this one.

In blog updates, like this one, I’ll be sharing the word count as well as any other fun details that I feel will be relevant to the events of that week of writing (while excluding spoilers, of course).

Word count is important because it shares an approximate measurement until the completion of Book II where page count alone cannot. For example, Book I of the series was about 202,000 words long. The way Book II is playing out, I’m estimating it to be anywhere from 200,000 - 230,000 words long.

This estimation is just an educated guess. There is really no way to give an exact “for sure” number. I know where the story is going; I know different things that need to take place in this book; and I know of at least 2 different ways I can end the book.

What are those two endings? To be clear, they are not different stories that could branch off one way or the other. Basically, I can either end it with Option Number 1 or I can end it with Option 2. If the latter, then the events that would have been in Option 1 will become the first chapters of book III.
